M is for Museum & Poppets Playdates
September 9, 2022 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am
Join us the 2nd Friday of the month for our M is for Museum/Poppets Playdates program! Each month, we read a story, then do a related craft or activity.
In October, we’ll be honoring Indigenous Peoples’ Day by reading stories featuring Indigenous communities. Our Poppets friends will read Mama Do You Love Me? by Barbara M. Josse and illustrated by Barbara Lavallee. In this book, a child who lives in the Arctic tests the limits of independence and learns that a parent’s love is unconditional and everlasting.
Our M is for Museum friends will read We are Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom and illustrated by Michaela Goade. This 2021 Caldecott Medal-winning story is inspired by the many Indigenous-led movements across North America to safeguard the Earth’s water.
After we read, we will make a percussion instrument like the drum featured in We are Water Protectors.
