Brown Bag Lunch Series: Memories in Stone
November 16 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Memories in Stone: The Graves of Wenham’s Veterans
In recognition of Veterans Day, The Wenham Museum’s Exhibitions Curator, Jane Bowers, will discuss the memorial stones of veterans of the American Revolution and the Civil War in Wenham Cemetery. Bowers has been an amateur student of gravestone symbology for many years, and this presentation will specifically focus on some of the gravestones that memorialize veterans of two major conflicts that took place on US soil. The presentation will include information about the lives and military service of these veterans, as well as the symbols and epitaphs on the stones themselves.
About the Brown Bag Lunch Series
Join us the 3rd Thursday of every month to learn about local history and culture. Bring your own “brown bag lunch” and beverages and dessert will be provided by the museum. This is a free community program, although a $10 suggested donation is encouraged.
