Closure Message

Updates as of Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 3:30 p.m.

Due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Wenham Museum will remain closed until further notice due to the continued needs for “social distancing.”  We look forward to resuming our operations soon.

We ask our community to continue to support us during these uncertain times by recognizing that the museum is an important part of our community and the childhood experience on the North Shore. A significant portion of our revenue comes from admissions, memberships, and shop sales, which will decline sharply during this closure. To help, you can:

Updates as of Friday, March 13, 2020 at 11:05 a.m.

Due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as of 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 12th, the Wenham Museum will be closed to the public through Friday, March 27th. In addition, all public programming and events scheduled through Thursday, April 12th will be postponed or cancelled.

Although we have not had any known or suspected cases of COVID-19 within the museum, we are following best practices and joining in with our surrounding communities to protect public health and limit public interaction. We are also mindful of our staff, volunteers, and visitors who are in categories deemed high-risk, should they catch this illness.

During this time, core staff will be continuing projects and working remotely to continue to fulfill our mission. We are working now to determine what offerings can be converted to virtual or online experiences for the public.

All of our artifacts and collections remain safe, as climate control and security will remain in place during this time. This closure is also an opportunity for additional deep cleaning and sanitizing of our building and its many hands-on and high-touch areas.

We also know that some constituents may have received a previously scheduled e-mail this morning reminding them about today’s program series, M is for Museum/Poppets and our Brown Bag Lunch program. Those programs are cancelled today, and we apologize for any confusion this e-mail may have caused. We are working on a date to re-schedule our Brown Bag Lunch program.

We ask our community to continue to support us during these uncertain times by recognizing that the museum is an important part of our community and the childhood experience on the North Shore. A significant portion of our revenue comes from admissions, memberships, and shop sales, which will decline sharply during this closure. To help, you can:
