SUMMARY:Silhouette Portrait Artist
DESCRIPTION:Portraits In Silhouette is the combined expertise of silhouette artists and mother-daughter team\, Jean Comerford and Marcella Comerford-Foley. Portraits In Silhouette is focused on bringing you original\, personalized work\, full of inventive detail and creative spark. The silhouettes are never produced with a digital program\, copied\, or traced. You can expect a genuine\, hand-cut\, and individual portrait each time\, with consideration for the subject’s character and those great details – capturing “what makes them who they are.” Whether that is a signature hairstyle\, a cowlick\, the way they hold their mouth\, a bowtie\, or glasses\, we love to bring out the personality in our portraits.  Children of all ages including wigglers are welcome! \nThe sitting fee is $79.00 per child.  Each child requires his/her own sitting appointment.  Each appointment is approximately 15 minutes in length.  If you have more than one child\, we recommend booking back-to-back time slots.\nReserve a Silhouette Appointment >> \nThe $79.00 sitting fee includes two silhouettes of your child:  one facing right and one facing left.  Additional copies of portraits are $25.00 and may be purchased on the day of your sitting.  Frames are also available for purchase. \nTo ensure the safety of all visitors as well as our staff and volunteers: please arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before your scheduled time.  Interested in visiting the museum galleries? Admission is a separate charge. \nAll cancellations made within three days of the program are nonrefundable unless your reserved sitting time can be resold.

SUMMARY:Brown Bag Lunch: Shipwrecks & the USS NH
DESCRIPTION:This month\, we welcome Cape Ann resident and scuba diver Norman “Dugie” Russell.  Dugie has explored many sunken shipwrecks located off North Shore and Cape Ann\, with the U.S.S. New Hampshire being one of the most significant. The U.S.S. New Hampshire was one of the last of the United States’ 74-gun warships\, built in 1814 and designed by the same designer of the U.S.S. Constitution. \nThe U.S.S. New Hampshire sank in 1922 near Graves Island in Manchester-by-the-Sea. During his dives to the wreckage\, Dugie recovered 4 tons of gorgeous\, nearly petrified marbleized timber and striking copper and brass fittings forged by Paul Revere & Sons in the early 1800s. \nJoin us as we learn about this history of this sunken ship and hear Dugie’s first-person account of diving and salvaging from this historic wreckage. \nDugie was one of the original founders of the Essex County Sherriff’s Search and Recovery Dive Team and is a retired court officer from the Massachusetts’ court system. \nTo participate via Zoom\, please register online using the “Buy Tickets” button below.  If you plan to attend in person\, you may register in advance or drop-in on the day of the program. \nThank You to Our Sponsor\nThis program series is sponsored by the Institution for Savings. \n \nAbout the Brown Bag Lunch Series\nJoin us the 3rd Thursday of every month to learn about local history and culture.  Bring your own “brown bag lunch” and beverages and dessert will be provided by the museum. \nPROGRAM DETAILS\n3rd Thursday of the Month\n12 – 1 p.m.\n$10 Suggested Donation

SUMMARY:HW Children's Business Fair
DESCRIPTION:Could a Ten Year Old Invent the next Uber? Find out at the Hamilton Wenham Children’s Business Fair\, showcasing kids’ entrepreneurial genius! We’re thrilled to host this event in partnership with Local HW. \nOn September 24th from 11:00 PM to 4:00PM\, the second annual Hamilton Wenham Children’s Business Fair will host up to 50 young entrepreneurs\, ages 8-18\, on the front lawn at the Wenham Museum\, located at 132 Main Street (Rt. 1A) in Wenham. This event is free and open to the public and young vendors can apply from anywhere in the region. \nKids create a product or service\, develop a brand\, build a marketing strategy\, and then open for customers at this one-day marketplace. The children are responsible for the setup\, sales\, and interacting with customers\, and any parent seen selling to the customer or promoting the child’s product will result in disqualification from the competition. \nThis event is sponsored by Local HW\, the Wenham Museum and Acton Academy\, the Acton School of Business\, the generous support of the Town of Wenham\, and donors and volunteers\, who all believe that principled entrepreneurs are heroes and role models for the next generation. \nWhether an entrepreneur is famous\, like Elon Musk or Oprah Winfrey\, or one of the thousands of unsung business owners across this country\, these entrepreneurs are the people who make sacrifices to innovate\, create jobs\, and serve their communities. \n“Today’s youth are tomorrow’s business innovators and leaders. The Children’s Business Fair gives students the opportunity to spread their entrepreneurial wings and get a head start on promising business careers; this is a fantastic extension of our mission to support community businesses and it encourages and develops our next generation of entrepreneurs\,” said Jan Soolman\, President of Local HW. \nAwards will be presented in each of the three age groups (8-10\, 11-12\,13-15\, 16+) for “Most Business Potential\,” “Most Creative Idea\,” and “Most Impressive Presentation.” \nChildren can apply to be vendors until the deadline of September 1st by clicking here. \nAdditional sponsorship opportunities are available; contact: natalie@acorn-communications.com.
