SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Caring Counts & LuminArtz
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition Caring Counts:  Centuries in the Making by artist Leslie Lyman opens at the Wenham Museum today! \nArtist Leslie Lyman’s recent sculptural piece is about the often unnoticed\, but physically and emotionally difficult\, work of caring for others–work that is usually performed by women. Using a handmade account book\, which visitors will be able to touch and read\, she has documented these seemingly innumerable tasks. The display will be accompanied by still photographs that reference caregiver’s efforts on behalf of those they love\, and objects from the Wenham Museum’s own collection that support the history of care provided by women. Hands-on components will allow visitors to touch some the tools that have been used to provide care. \nJoin us for an opening reception on Friday\, June 24\, 2022 starting at 7:30 p.m.  A $10 Suggested Donation is requested at the door and a cash bar and light refreshments will be available.  \nThis opening reception will also feature a special\, live\, outdoor video art installation by LuminArtz beginning at 8:30 p.m.  This installation will be projected on the exterior of the Wenham Museum’s building and feature Leslie Lyman’s work as reimagined by artist Pamela Hersch. \nDuring the Opening Reception\, guests can also view the Caring Counts exhibition in the museum’s galleries. \nLearn more about Leslie Lyman >>\nLearn more about Pamela Hersch >>\nExplore the 2020 LuminArtz installation at the Wenham Museum >> \nThank You to Our Sponsor: LuminArtz

SUMMARY:Induction into Vietnam - An Airman's Perspective
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we welcome David A. Mangan\, Veteran Service Officer from the Town of Wakefield\, Massachusetts.  Mr. Mangan served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1969 – 1970. \nDrafted right out of high school in 1968\, he enlisted in the Air Force due to his prior involvement with the Civil Air Patrol.  This experience allowed him to direct his team in Vietnam to successful missions. \nAs a Jet aircraft mechanic specialist on the F-105 Thunderchief\, Mr. Mangan performed maintenance as a crew chief on three aircraft that were nuclear strike bombers during the Vietnam War from a remote base along the Cambodian Border in Thailand and in the central highlands of Thailand. \nHe was promoted rapidly to staff sergeant at the age of 19 and he was responsible for turning aircraft around for missions within 12 hours. The combat support from Thailand was Secret and virtually unknown to the American theatre. The United States lost over 325 F-105 aircraft from Thailand alone\, and the majority of the prisoners from downed aircraft were pilots from these bases. \nMr. Mangan will share his personal experiences of the Vietnam War and share personal photos from his service during his presentation.  He dedicates his presentation to his best friend\, Michael Guzzetti\, a U.S. Marine who was killed just a few weeks after his arrival at Quang Nam province while on patrol in Vietnam. \nToday\, Mr. Mangan is active in providing navigational direction for Veteran Benefits for Veterans from WWII to Afghanistan.  To read Mr. Mangan’s complete bio\, please click here >> \nTickets\n$20 Nonmembers\n$15 Members\, Seniors (65+)\, Military & Veterans \nParking & Accessibility\nPublic parking is available in gravel lot located next to the Homestead.
