SUMMARY:M is for Museum & Poppets Playdates: Snow Daze!
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this month’s M is for Museum and Poppets Playdates programs!  This February\, we’ll read stories about snow and ice. \nOur Poppets friends will read Mice on Ice by Rebecca Emberley and Ed Emberley.  In this story\, mice skate on ice. As they skate\, their blades leave lines that depict a cat. Magically\, the cat appears\, color\, graphic\, and three-dimensional. What happens next? Why\, the cat and the mice skate together! \nOur M is for Museum friends will read Cozy by Jan Brett.  This story is about Cozy\, the softest musk ox in Alaska\, with the warmest fur you ever did feel. When a storm hits while he’s separated from his family\, he starts to feel lonely—but not for long. As the snow piles up\, animals start to notice just how warm and cozy Cozy really is. Luckily\, signs of spring soon appear\, and that means Cozy can find his herd and his new friends can head to their summer homes. But not before promising to get cozy with Cozy next year! \nAfter we read\, we’ll do some ice painting together. Our paintings might remind us of the cold blue ice that the mice skate on\, or the beautiful winter skies over Cozy and her friends. \nNote: At present\, we are planning this as an in-person program inside the Wenham Museum with open windows in the program space. If necessary\, we will pivot to an online or virtual program as the date approaches. \nM is for Museum & Poppets Playdates\nPoppets Playdates\, 18 mos.+\, 9:30 a.m.\nM is for Museum\, 2.9 years+\, 10:30 a.m.\nFriday\, February 11\, 2022\nIncluded with Admission\nFree for Members\nFree for Residents of Hamilton\, Wenham\, Manchester or Essex with advanced registration. \nSponsored by Early Childhood Partners.

SUMMARY:First-Ever Toy Swap
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Wenham Museum’s first-ever toy swap!  This fun and festive evening is a great way to acquire some new-to-you toys for all of the children on your list. With concerns about the environment and supply chains\, there has never been a better time to think about alternative\, budget-friendly ways of gift-giving!  Mix\, mingle\, and swap\, then wrap your gifts at our complimentary wrapping station before you head home.    \nAs a gesture of thanks\, Toy Swap participants will also receive a 10% off coupon for the Museum Shop (20% off for Members) for any extra items you need to round out your holiday shopping.   \nAll proceeds from the Toy Swap benefit the nonprofit Wenham Museum.  \n== \nHow will this work? \nFind the items you’d like to swap in your home!  We ask that participants bring no more than 10 items\, and that all toys & goods are in good or excellent used condition.  Toys should be for ages birth to age 10. \n\nIf a toy requires batteries\, please make sure the batteries are in good working order so that swappers can verify that the toy is functional.  \nPlease no stuffed animals\, clothing\, or baby gear like car seats\, high chairs\, and similar items.   \n\nFill out the RSVP form to let us know you’re coming.  It’s easy – click here! \nOn the night of the swap\, arrive at the Wenham Museum with your items.  You will be given tickets that represent the value of your items.  You will use these tickets to “shop” for toys during the swap.   \nPlace your toys and items on the appropriate tables.  We’ll post signage on tables like\, “Infant Toys” or “Ages 2-3” to make things quick and easy to navigate.  \nWe will call a start to the swap!  “Shop” for new items using your tickets\, and then “check out” by handing your tickets back in. \nParticipants will also receive a coupon for 10% off in the Museum Shop\, just in case there are some books\, games\, toys\, or other things that you need to complete your holiday shopping.     \nPlan some time for gift wrap!  Visit our complimentary gift wrap stations so you can bring everything home and ready to give! \n== \nFAQs\nWhat if there are leftover toys/gifts?  All items remaining at the swap will be donated to local charities.  \nCan I take my items home if no one chooses them?  Due to the challenges in tracking items that are brought to the swap\, if a toy is given to the swap we ask that it is essentialed donated to the swap/to charity.  In other words\, if an item comes to the swap\, it stays at the swap.  \nWhat if I cannot find something I want to swap for?  This is a risk inherent in participating in the swap!  It’s possible you might not find something.. The best way to prevent this\, however\, is to encourage your friends and others you know to participate so that there is a fantastic assortment of items.  \nCan non-Members attend this event?  At this point\, this event is just for Museum Members or Members of the Hamilton-Wenham Mother’s Club.  If space allows\, we will open the event to non-Members.  However\, we encourage your friends\, family\, and contacts to join either the museum or the HWMC and to support the great work done by these organizations.
