SUMMARY:M is for Museum & Poppets Playdates
DESCRIPTION:Join us the 2nd Friday of the month for our M is for Museum/Poppets Playdates program!  Each month\, we read a story\, then do a related craft or activity. \nIn October\, we’ll be honoring Indigenous Peoples’ Day by reading stories featuring Indigenous communities.  Our Poppets friends will read Mama Do You Love Me? by Barbara M. Josse and illustrated by Barbara Lavallee.  In this book\, a child who lives in the Arctic tests the limits of independence and learns that a parent’s love is unconditional and everlasting. \nOur M is for Museum friends will read We are Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom and illustrated by Michaela Goade.  This 2021 Caldecott Medal-winning story is inspired by the many Indigenous-led movements across North America to safeguard the Earth’s water. \nAfter we read\, we will make a percussion instrument like the drum featured in We are Water Protectors. \nPROGRAM DETAILS\nOctober 14\, 2022 / 2nd Friday of the Month\n9:30 a.m. ages 18 months-2.9 years\n10:30 a.m. ages 2.9 years+\nIncluded with Admission\nFree for Members\nFree for Residents of Hamilton\, Wenham\, Manchester & Essex with advanced registration through Early Childhood Partners >> \nSponsored by Early Childhood Partners

DESCRIPTION:This month\, our M is for Museum/Poppets Playdates theme is “Bugs from A to Z!” \nOur Poppets friends will read The Icky Bug Alphabet Book by Jerry Pallotta. In this book\, we’ll explore our ABCs in this “icky” exploration of all the creepy crawly insects from A to Z. \nOur M is for Museum friends will read The Alphabet Tree by Leo Lionni. In this book\, a fierce wind threatens to blow all the little letters out of the alphabet tree. They must band together in words—and then sentences—to create a message that’s even stronger than the wind: peace on earth. With their newfound knowledge\, there’s nothing the letters can’t do in this gentle parable about the power of the written word. \nAfter we read our stories\, we’ll create some bug-inspired thumbprint art! \nPROGRAM DETAILS\nFriday\, June 10\, 2022\n9:30 a.m. ages 18 months-2.9 years\n10:30 a.m. ages 2.9 years+\nIncluded with Admission\nFree for Members\nFree for Residents of Hamilton\, Wenham\, Manchester & Essex with advanced registration through Early Childhood Partners >> \nSponsored by Early Childhood Partners

SUMMARY:M is for Museum & Poppets Playdates
DESCRIPTION:In March\, winter starts to fade and signs of spring begin to appear. One sign of spring is that sap starts to run inside maple trees. You can gather this sap in buckets and boil it for a long time until it becomes maple syrup! \nMaple syrup is delicious on pancakes! Our Poppets friends will read Pancakes\, Pancakes! by Eric Carle. In this story\, Jack wakes up and is hungry for pancakes. His mother sends him around their farm to gather the ingredients. He wonders if his pancake will ever be ready! \nOur M is for Museum friends will read Sugaring by Jesse Haas. In this book\, Nora and Gramp are collecting sap from maple trees to make maple syrup. The horses\, Bonnie and Stella\, are working hard\, too\, pulling the heavy sap tank through the snow from tree to tree. This story about Nora and her grandparents brings the beauty of a New England farm in early spring vividly to life. \nDuring this program\, we’ll visit our Family Discovery Gallery to see the make-believe maple sugaring activity in The Ox-Cart Man exhibit\, then do a maple-themed craft. \nSponsored by Early Childhood Partners \nPROGRAM DETAILS\nPoppets Playdates\, 18 mos.+\, 9:30 a.m.\nM is for Museum\, 2.9 years+\, 10:30 a.m.\nIncluded with Admission\nFree for Members\nFree for Residents of Hamilton\, Wenham\,\nManchester & Essex with Advanced Registration

SUMMARY:M is for Museum & Poppets Playdates: Snow Daze!
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this month’s M is for Museum and Poppets Playdates programs!  This February\, we’ll read stories about snow and ice. \nOur Poppets friends will read Mice on Ice by Rebecca Emberley and Ed Emberley.  In this story\, mice skate on ice. As they skate\, their blades leave lines that depict a cat. Magically\, the cat appears\, color\, graphic\, and three-dimensional. What happens next? Why\, the cat and the mice skate together! \nOur M is for Museum friends will read Cozy by Jan Brett.  This story is about Cozy\, the softest musk ox in Alaska\, with the warmest fur you ever did feel. When a storm hits while he’s separated from his family\, he starts to feel lonely—but not for long. As the snow piles up\, animals start to notice just how warm and cozy Cozy really is. Luckily\, signs of spring soon appear\, and that means Cozy can find his herd and his new friends can head to their summer homes. But not before promising to get cozy with Cozy next year! \nAfter we read\, we’ll do some ice painting together. Our paintings might remind us of the cold blue ice that the mice skate on\, or the beautiful winter skies over Cozy and her friends. \nNote: At present\, we are planning this as an in-person program inside the Wenham Museum with open windows in the program space. If necessary\, we will pivot to an online or virtual program as the date approaches. \nM is for Museum & Poppets Playdates\nPoppets Playdates\, 18 mos.+\, 9:30 a.m.\nM is for Museum\, 2.9 years+\, 10:30 a.m.\nFriday\, February 11\, 2022\nIncluded with Admission\nFree for Members\nFree for Residents of Hamilton\, Wenham\, Manchester or Essex with advanced registration. \nSponsored by Early Childhood Partners.
