Hannah will explore the history of gingerbread here in the US\, including an overview of the foodways of European colonists\, a close look at how American gingerbread was adapted from European recipes\, and a discussion of how to make gingerbread. As a special treat\, samples of gingerbread made using Amelia Simmons’ famous 1796 recipe for “Soft Gingerbread to be baked in pans” will be available to try for yourselves! \nAbout the Brown Bag Lunch Series \nJoin us on the third Thursday of the month with your favorite lunch and explores local history and culture in a comfortable and welcoming environment.
