SUMMARY:Brown Bag Lunch: Wenham's Water
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered about Wenham’s water?   Wenham\, once called “Enon” in a Biblical reference to a place with much water\, has always had a close relationship with its water resources.  From ice harvesting on Wenham Lake to the Great Wenham Swamp and the Canal\, our water remains important to our past\, present\, and future.  As climate change and recent drought put pressure on our watershed\, come and learn from Erin Bonney Casey of the Ipswich River Watershed Association about the history of our water usage and how we can best steward this critical resource now and in the years to come. \nTo participate via Zoom\, please register online using the “Buy Tickets” button below.  If you plan to attend in person\, you may register in advance or drop-in on the day of the program. \nYouTube Link & Presenter PowerPoints\nWatch the presentation on YouTube>>\nView the PowerPoint from Erin Bonney Casey\, IWRA >>\nView the PowerPoint from Ernest Ashley\, Town of Wenham >> \nThank You to Our Sponsors\nThis program is presented by the Ipswich River Watershed Association as part of the Greenscapes North Shore coalition.  The 2022-2023 Brown Bag Lunch Series is also sponsored by the Institution for Savings. \n \nAbout the Brown Bag Lunch Series\nJoin us the 3rd Thursday of every month to learn about local history and culture.  Bring your own “brown bag lunch” and beverages and dessert will be provided by the museum. \nPROGRAM DETAILS\n3rd Thursday of the Month\n12 – 1 p.m.\n$10 Suggested Donation

SUMMARY:HW Children's Business Fair
DESCRIPTION:Could a Ten Year Old Invent the next Uber? Find out at the Hamilton Wenham Children’s Business Fair\, showcasing kids’ entrepreneurial genius! We’re thrilled to host this event in partnership with Local HW. \nOn September 24th from 11:00 PM to 4:00PM\, the second annual Hamilton Wenham Children’s Business Fair will host up to 50 young entrepreneurs\, ages 8-18\, on the front lawn at the Wenham Museum\, located at 132 Main Street (Rt. 1A) in Wenham. This event is free and open to the public and young vendors can apply from anywhere in the region. \nKids create a product or service\, develop a brand\, build a marketing strategy\, and then open for customers at this one-day marketplace. The children are responsible for the setup\, sales\, and interacting with customers\, and any parent seen selling to the customer or promoting the child’s product will result in disqualification from the competition. \nThis event is sponsored by Local HW\, the Wenham Museum and Acton Academy\, the Acton School of Business\, the generous support of the Town of Wenham\, and donors and volunteers\, who all believe that principled entrepreneurs are heroes and role models for the next generation. \nWhether an entrepreneur is famous\, like Elon Musk or Oprah Winfrey\, or one of the thousands of unsung business owners across this country\, these entrepreneurs are the people who make sacrifices to innovate\, create jobs\, and serve their communities. \n“Today’s youth are tomorrow’s business innovators and leaders. The Children’s Business Fair gives students the opportunity to spread their entrepreneurial wings and get a head start on promising business careers; this is a fantastic extension of our mission to support community businesses and it encourages and develops our next generation of entrepreneurs\,” said Jan Soolman\, President of Local HW. \nAwards will be presented in each of the three age groups (8-10\, 11-12\,13-15\, 16+) for “Most Business Potential\,” “Most Creative Idea\,” and “Most Impressive Presentation.” \nChildren can apply to be vendors until the deadline of September 1st by clicking here. \nAdditional sponsorship opportunities are available; contact: natalie@acorn-communications.com.

SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Caring Counts & LuminArtz
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition Caring Counts:  Centuries in the Making by artist Leslie Lyman opens at the Wenham Museum today! \nArtist Leslie Lyman’s recent sculptural piece is about the often unnoticed\, but physically and emotionally difficult\, work of caring for others–work that is usually performed by women. Using a handmade account book\, which visitors will be able to touch and read\, she has documented these seemingly innumerable tasks. The display will be accompanied by still photographs that reference caregiver’s efforts on behalf of those they love\, and objects from the Wenham Museum’s own collection that support the history of care provided by women. Hands-on components will allow visitors to touch some the tools that have been used to provide care. \nJoin us for an opening reception on Friday\, June 24\, 2022 starting at 7:30 p.m.  A $10 Suggested Donation is requested at the door and a cash bar and light refreshments will be available.  \nThis opening reception will also feature a special\, live\, outdoor video art installation by LuminArtz beginning at 8:30 p.m.  This installation will be projected on the exterior of the Wenham Museum’s building and feature Leslie Lyman’s work as reimagined by artist Pamela Hersch. \nDuring the Opening Reception\, guests can also view the Caring Counts exhibition in the museum’s galleries. \nLearn more about Leslie Lyman >>\nLearn more about Pamela Hersch >>\nExplore the 2020 LuminArtz installation at the Wenham Museum >> \nThank You to Our Sponsor: LuminArtz
