SUMMARY:Silhouette Portrait Artist
DESCRIPTION:Portraits In Silhouette is the combined expertise of silhouette artists and mother-daughter team\, Jean Comerford and Marcella Comerford-Foley. Portraits In Silhouette is focused on bringing you original\, personalized work\, full of inventive detail and creative spark. The silhouettes are never produced with a digital program\, copied\, or traced. You can expect a genuine\, hand-cut\, and individual portrait each time\, with consideration for the subject’s character and those great details – capturing “what makes them who they are.” Whether that is a signature hairstyle\, a cowlick\, the way they hold their mouth\, a bowtie\, or glasses\, we love to bring out the personality in our portraits. Children of all ages including wigglers are welcome! \nThe sitting fee is $79.00 per child. Each child requires his/her own sitting appointment. Each appointment is approximately 15 minutes in length. If you have more than one child\, we recommend booking back-to-back time slots. \nThe $79.00 sitting fee includes two silhouettes of your child: one facing right and one facing left. Additional copies of portraits are $25.00 and may be purchased on the day of your sitting. Frames are also available for purchase. \nInterested in visiting the museum galleries? Admission is a separate charge. \nAll cancellations made within three days of the program are nonrefundable unless your reserved sitting time can be resold.

SUMMARY:Ancestry Days - Scots' Charitable Society
DESCRIPTION:Ancestry Day – The Scots Charitable Association and Early New England Scots\nSaturday\, April 21\, 2023: 2:00pm  \n$4 Members  \n$5 Nonmembers  \nAdvanced Registration Required   \nAs part of Destination Salem’s Ancestry Days\, learn about Scottish heritage and the Scots’ Charitable Association.  As the oldest charitable society in the Western Hemisphere\, it was founded in 1657 in Massachusetts to provide aid to Scots transported to the colonies by the British in the 1650s.  \nEarly New England history is dominated by the central role of the English in settlement and politics. Less well known is the role of the early Scottish immigrants\, such as Wenham’s own Robert Macklaflin\, and the critical role played by the Scottish prisoners indentured to New England following their capture at the Battles of Dunbar and Worcester in 1650 and 1651.   \nRobert Macklaflin was once such Scotsman.  He was brought to the colonies as a prisoner of war and assigned to work in the Saugus Iron Works.  When his indenture was concluded\, he married a woman from Ipswich and settled in Wenham.  \nBill Budde will present a brief overview of the Scots’ Charitable Society of Boston and the critical role played by early Scots in New England history.  \nToday\, the Scots’ Charitable Society helps people of Scottish heritage by providing relief to Scottish-American individuals and families in need\, and by granting undergraduate scholarships to members of the Scottish-American community. They are Scots helping Scots.  \n  \n\nInclement Weather Policy: in the event of current or forecasted inclement weather\, the Wenham Museum may need to close its galleries and gift shop. All weather-related closings will be posted on the museum’s website and Facebook page at Facebook.com/WenhamMuseum.\nDoors Open:  The doors for the program will open approximately 10 minutes prior to the start of the program.  In consideration to all participants\, please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the program time.  The museum reserves the right to re-sell tickets if participants arrive 10 minutes or later after the program begins. \n\nQuestions?
