SUMMARY:NBDMHC Exhibition Opens
DESCRIPTION:We are honored to welcome the National Black Doll Museum of History & Culture for a visiting special exhibition designed by curator and Executive Director Debra Britt. \nThis exhibition will explore how black dolls have played a critical role in building a diverse American society and rich African American culture. They help tell the stories of African- American history\, of enslaved Africans captured and relocated to a strange land and yet bravely asserting their own cultures—and of everyone who came after. \nthe National Black Doll Museum of History & Culture (NBDMHC) uses its expansive 7\,000-piece doll collection\, images\, and artifacts to illustrate and tell individual stories and the story of a people.

SUMMARY:Loose Parts Play Exhibition Opening
DESCRIPTION:Let your imagination run wild in our new exhibition in the Family Discovery Gallery!  Children learn best when they are given the freedom to explore and experiment with open-ended materials.  Loose parts are materials that can be moved\, carried\, combined\, redesigned\, lined up\, and taken apart and put back together in multiple ways. \nIn this hands-on exhibition\, children can use loose parts to create forts\, collages\, structures\, and more while they develop their creativity\, problem-solving skills\, fine motor skills\, and social-emotional skills. \nExhibitions in the Family Discovery Gallery are generously supported by Ken & Jean Jones.

SUMMARY:Children's Business Fair
DESCRIPTION:Weather Update as of Friday\, Sept. 22\, 2023: The Children’s Business Fair is a rain or shine event!  If you are signed up as a vendor for the fair\, please check the e-mail you provided during registration.  The event organizers have shared information with you regarding what will transpire in the event of rain.   \nCould a Ten Year Old Invent the next Uber? Find out at the Hamilton Wenham Children’s Business Fair\, showcasing kids’ entrepreneurial genius! We’re thrilled to host this event in partnership with Local HW. \nOn September 23rd from 11:00 AM to 3:00PM\, the third annual Hamilton Wenham Children’s Business Fair will host up to 50 young entrepreneurs\, ages 8-18\, on the front lawn at the Wenham Museum\, located at 132 Main Street (Rt. 1A) in Wenham. This event is free and open to the public and young vendors can apply from anywhere in the region. \nKids create a product or service\, develop a brand\, build a marketing strategy\, and then open for customers at this one-day marketplace. The children are responsible for the setup\, sales\, and interacting with customers\, and any parent seen selling to the customer or promoting the child’s product will result in disqualification from the competition. \nThis event is sponsored by Local HW\, the Wenham Museum and Acton Academy\, the Acton School of Business\, the generous support of the Town of Wenham\, and donors and volunteers\, who all believe that principled entrepreneurs are heroes and role models for the next generation. \nWhether an entrepreneur is famous\, like Elon Musk or Oprah Winfrey\, or one of the thousands of unsung business owners across this country\, these entrepreneurs are the people who make sacrifices to innovate\, create jobs\, and serve their communities. \n“Today’s youth are tomorrow’s business innovators and leaders. The Children’s Business Fair gives students the opportunity to spread their entrepreneurial wings and get a head start on promising business careers; this is a fantastic extension of our mission to support community businesses and it encourages and develops our next generation of entrepreneurs\,” said Jan Soolman\, President of Local HW. \nAwards will be presented in each of the three age groups (8-10\, 11-12\, 13-15\, 16+) for “Most Business Potential\,” “Most Creative Idea\,” and “Most Impressive Presentation.
