**Important Information** – First Floor Galleries Under Construction until June 2019

Museum 1ST FLOOR GALLERIES UNDER CONSTRUCTION UNTIL JUNE 2019.
lOWER GALLERIES, HISTORIC HOUSE, AND BURNHAM HALL OPEN.
We apologize for any inconvenience this will cause.

Starting on Monday, March 11, 2019, the museum’s first-floor galleries will be under construction for approximately 2.5 months.  During this time, the galleries will undergo a complete renovation to create an updated, flexible gallery space that will support the museum’s next exhibit, Equestrian Histories, opening in June 2019, and a 21st-century museum experience for all visitors.  When construction is complete, the installation of Equestrian Histories will begin.  Equestrian Histories will be unveiled on Saturday, June 8, 2019 during the museum’s Summer Soiree fundraising gala.

We regret that during this time, the first-floor galleries will be inaccessible to visitors.  We apologize for any inconvenience of disappointment this may cause, and we hope you will remain patient for the good things to come that will stem from these improvements.

During construction, unimpeded access will continue to our lower galleries, including the trains and the Family Discovery Gallery, our lobby gallery, snack area, and Museum Shop.  The museum’s historic house will also remain open by guided tour.

The museum’s program and function space, Burnham Hall, will also be used for hands-on, interactive fun during this time.  In March, a series of favorite interactives, such as our ice house, beaver lodge, and building tables, will be set up in Burnham Hall to engage our young visitors.  During April School Vacation Week, construction and building-related activities will be installed for visitors.  For more information about available exhibitions during this time, please visit our Exhibits page.  Programming will also continue, including popular series such as M is for Museum and our Brown Bag Lunch series.  Please click here for our upcoming programs.  Within available space, we are committed to making sure there is always something new to see or do for our many loyal visitors.

Lastly, to facilitate this gallery construction and re-installation, the permanent collections that were displayed in the first floor galleries, such as dolls, miniatures, and textiles, are safely in storage.  We recognize that there are constituents with deep affinity for some of these objects.  If there is anything within the permanent collection that you would like to see, please reach out to our Visitor Services staff so they may connect you with the appropriate member of the collections and curatorial team.  They may be reached at info@wenhammuseum.org or by phone at (978) 468-2377, ext. 113.  We are happy to continue to share our permanent collection during this time by appointment.

Again, we regret any inconvenience these improvements may cause and we thank you for your patience as we improve the museum experience for everyone in the museum’s multigenerational audience.  Thank You.
